🚔 Patrol Procedures

  • Always activate emergency lights before initiating a traffic stop
  • Maintain a minimum following distance of 3 car lengths during pursuits
  • Notify dispatch before initiating any pursuit
  • Terminate pursuit if risk to public exceeds severity of offense
  • Log all traffic stops in the session notes

📻 Radio Protocols

  • Use 10-codes for all radio communications
  • Identify yourself by unit number at the start of every transmission
  • Keep transmissions brief and clear
  • All pursuits must be announced with: Unit #, direction, suspect description, and speed

  • Verbal commands first in all situations where feasible
  • Escalate to physical intervention only when verbal fails
  • Lethal force only as absolute last resort
  • All use of force incidents must be logged by supervising officer
